Køben Platter in Charred Oak

This platter has been hand turned from a striking piece of quarter sawn oak to our mid-century Scandinavian inspired Køben shape. The quarter sawn nature of the timber has resulted in the subtle tiger striping within in the piece. Once turned it has undergone the ancient Japanese technique of Yakisugi where he bowl was scorched with a 2000 degree flame to instantly char it and an abrasive then used to remove the thin layer of loose charcoal and the process started again. After the second charring the surface was treated with a food-safe hardwearing blend of natural oils and waxes to seal it. The underside of this platter contains the Bird and Branch logo at its centre.

This platter will make a striking focal point in any interior and due to its food safe nature could also be used to display fruit or even be used at the table!
