Tall Køben Bowl in Ash Yakisugi

About a Japandi as one could get! This Bowl has been hand turned to our mid-century Scandinavian inspired Køben shape and once turned it has undergone the ancient Japanese technique of Yakisugi. The bowl was scorched with a 2000 degree flame to instantly char it and an abrasive was then used to remove the thin layer of loose charcoal and the process started again. After the second charring the surface was treated with a food safe hardwearing blend of natural oils and waxes. The underside of this bowl contains the Bird and Branch logo at its centre.

The splits and cracks in this bowl are an embodiment of the process of its creation using fire however they are all stable and won't get any larger.

Measures approx 22cm diameter x 10cm tall x 8cm deep
